Define the layer build-up
Choose materials from the library. Set layer thicknesses and arrange the build-up from inside to outside.
Building physics software
Software for building professionals, energy advisers and designers. R-values in h·ft²·°F/Btu, U-factors and simplified moisture assessment and insulation comparisons for preliminary design.
Android available · Windows, macOS and iOS: Coming soon

Workflow
Calculations use the layer build-up, material properties and specified boundary conditions.
Choose materials from the library. Set layer thicknesses and arrange the build-up from inside to outside.
Use R-values, surface temperatures and visual profiles for a preliminary assessment of your construction.
Compare insulation thicknesses and document results in client or technical reports. Advanced features require Pro.
Calculation example
Calculation example for a solid brick wall with mineral wool insulation. Insulation thickness is variable; all other inputs remain constant.
Simplified one-dimensional assembly: 0.59 in plaster, 9.45 in solid brick, mineral wool k = 0.243 Btu·in/(h·ft²·°F), 0.79 in render. Includes interior and exterior surface resistances of R-0.74 and R-0.23. Assembly R-value, not the insulation product rating; excludes framing and thermal bridges. Not a code-compliance assessment.
Features
App views showing an example construction, material properties and calculation results.

Pro features
Assess room humidity, ventilation and moisture buffering by wall and ceiling surfaces.
Calculate thermal mass and periodic thermal behavior for the defined layer build-up.
Assess thermal resistance with layer thickness, heat-flow direction and ventilation conditions.
Compare framing and insulated-cavity paths using an approximate area-weighted calculation.
Select location and climate data for the assessment. Reference conditions remain visible.
Planned: use a photo, region and construction year to suggest an editable layer build-up. This feature is not yet available.
U-CalQ for Windows
The Windows version displays the layer build-up and calculation results side by side. It includes project management and PDF reports and requires a separate license.

Questions & answers
No. U-CalQ is intended for preliminary assessments and comparisons. Simplified moisture calculations do not replace project-specific professional assessments or validated hygrothermal simulations.
Calculations and customer and project data are stored locally. Store purchases, license activation and some platform services require an internet connection.
Mobile Pro on Google Play and the Windows license are separate products. The desktop version costs €49.90 including VAT as a one-time purchase.
Payment is handled by Stripe. Once payment is verified, the confirmation page provides protected download access and your license key. Sales will open when payment processing and the release download are configured.
An Apple App Store release is being prepared. A direct link will appear here when the app is available. No release date has been announced.
No. U-CalQ stores your project data locally. There is no automatic cloud synchronization between mobile and desktop.
Questions about the app, the desktop edition or use in your business?
Technical scope: U-CalQ provides approximate calculations. Results do not replace project-specific thermal, moisture, thermal-bridge, fire, acoustic or structural assessments. Capillary-active internal insulation and complex construction details may require separate specialist analysis.
